This MC4 connector tool set makes it easy to assemble and disconnect solar MC4 connectors without damaging the locking tabs. The tools are made from non-conductive plastic, making them a safe choice around solar wiring and electrical systems.
Each set includes two slightly different wrench / spanner tools designed to maximize compatibility with a wide range of MC4-style connectors. Integrated release pins help separate locked connectors, while the molded grip holes help hold connector bodies securely during assembly.
Works with Stäubli MC4 connectors and MC4-style generic connectors. Fully compatible with the MC4 connectors we sell.

What is this tool used for?
Two main uses.
This tool is used to help assemble MC4 solar connectors, allowing easy tightening of the waterproof cable seals. The body grip holes make it easy to hold, and tighten, the connector housings smoothly.
It is also used to help release connected fittings, using the integrated pins to depress the recessed locking tabs.
Do I need this tool for MC4 connectors?
MC4 connectors lock together with internal tabs to help prevent accidental disconnection. While they can sometimes be separated by hand, using the proper tool makes the job easier and helps avoid damage to the connector locking tabs.
Will this work with the MC4 connectors sold by Sapphire Energy?
Yes. This tool is fully compatible with the MC4 connectors we sell, including our weatherproof MC4 connector sets and genuine Stäubli MC4 connector pairs.
Why are two tools included?
Each tool has slightly different release pin and grip geometry. Including both helps improve fitment across different MC4 connector molds and brands, including Stäubli and common generic MC4-style connectors.
You can also use one tool to hold the connector body, while simultaneously using the second tool to tighten the seal around the cable.
Is plastic better than metal for this tool?
Yes - For this type of accessory, plastic is a practical choice because it is non-conductive, lightweight, and won't scratch or damage connector housings, panels, etc.
Plastic also helps prevent over-tightening the connector seals, by flexing and allowing the tool to slip, reducing the risk of breaking anything.
It's lighter weight also makes it safer if working at heights, with less risk of injury from a falling tool.
