Behind the Builds
A Tattoo Co
Artistry on the road in a mobile tattoo studio.
Based in Abbotsford, BC, A Tattoo Co has taken creativity on the road. Brian transformed a school bus into a fully functional mobile tattoo studio for festivals, private events and pop-up locations.
This isn’t simply a bus with a tattoo chair inside. Brian’s conversion is a working, off-grid studio built to provide the equipment and comforts of a conventional shop wherever an event takes them. Tattoo machines, professional tools, interior lighting, air conditioning and hot water all place real demands on the electrical system.
A large inverter supplies AC power for the studio’s equipment, including the hot water tanks and tools, while the battery bank allows the business to operate away from a conventional power hookup. The goal is straightforward: keep the artists working and their clients comfortable throughout the day, whether the bus is parked at a festival, private function or pop-up location.
The electrical system includes two 300Ah Sapphire LiFePO₄ batteries (600Ah combined rated capacity), a Sapphire Bluetooth battery monitoring system, an AIMS 75A charger-converter and a large inverter to run AC loads. Together, these components help support the studio’s lighting, air conditioning, hot water tanks, tattoo equipment and other professional tools, both on and off the grid.
For a mobile business, dependable power is about more than convenience: it helps deliver a consistent customer experience without relying on an outlet at every destination. A Tattoo Co’s bus is a bold example of bringing a full-service creative business on the road—without leaving the essentials behind.
