Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/35 Solar Charge Controller

Get efficient solar charging with built-in Bluetooth and flexible battery compatibility. The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/35 — SCC115035210 delivers up to 35A of charging current for 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V battery systems, making it a versatile choice for RVs, boats, cabins and off-grid installations.

Use the free VictronConnect app to configure charging settings and check solar production from your phone. Its 150V PV rating provides flexibility when planning series-connected panels, while MPPT technology converts available panel power into charging current for your battery bank.

Why You'll Love It

  • Up to 35A of battery charging with 98% peak efficiency
  • Built-in Bluetooth for setup, monitoring and firmware updates
  • Supports 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V battery banks
  • Fast MPPT tracking for changing sunlight and partial shading
  • Quiet, fanless cooling and VE.Direct system integration
What Does 150/35 Mean?

150 is the absolute maximum solar-array open-circuit voltage. 35 is the maximum battery-charging current in amps. The battery-side charging current is different from the solar-panel input current.

Built-in Bluetooth Monitoring

Built-in Bluetooth gives you instant access to your SmartSolar controller through the free VictronConnect app. Check your solar production, charging status and battery information without opening an electrical cabinet or adding a separate display.

  • View live solar production details
  • Monitor battery and PV voltage
  • Review daily production and charging history
  • Adjust battery charging settings
  • Access up to 46 days of stored trend data
VictronConnect live solar charging status screen VictronConnect historical solar production screen

Live status and historical solar production in the free VictronConnect app.

Flexible Battery Charging

Choose a suitable battery preset or configure a custom charging profile for compatible LiFePO₄, AGM, gel or flooded lead-acid batteries. VictronConnect displays live charging information, daily yield and error history. No Bluetooth dongle or MK3-USB interface is required.

The controller automatically detects 12V, 24V or 48V battery voltage on first power-up. Select 36V manually, and confirm the voltage and charging profile before use.

Add Central Monitoring with Cerbo GX

Connect the controller to a Cerbo GX using a VE.Direct cable for integrated system monitoring and online VRM access when the GX device has an internet connection. The Cerbo GX and cable are sold separately.

Solar Array Sizing

Nominal Battery Voltage Nominal PV Power
12V 500W
24V 1000W
36V 1500W
48V 2000W

A larger array can improve production in weaker sunlight, with excess available power limited by the controller. Array voltage and short-circuit current must remain within the permitted limits.

Allow for Cold-Weather Panel Voltage

Panel open-circuit voltage rises as temperatures fall. Check the complete series string at the coldest expected temperature: 150V is the absolute maximum, with a 145V maximum for startup and operation.

Applications

  • RV, camper and marine solar charging
  • Cabins, tiny homes and off-grid battery systems
  • Solar-powered service and security trailers
  • Victron installations with GX monitoring

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work with 48V lithium batteries?

Yes, including compatible 51.2V LiFePO₄ banks. Configure charging voltages and current to the battery manufacturer's requirements, including any required BMS controls.

Do I need an accessory to use Bluetooth?

No. Bluetooth is built in. Use VictronConnect on a compatible phone or tablet for local setup and monitoring. Bluetooth access does not require an internet connection.

Should my panels be connected in series or parallel?

It depends on panel specifications and battery voltage. Series connections increase voltage; parallel connections increase current. PV voltage must exceed battery voltage by 5V to begin charging and by 1V to continue. Check cold-weather open-circuit voltage and total array short-circuit current before choosing a layout.

Can I connect more than the nominal panel wattage?

Yes, within the controller's voltage and current limits. It limits excess available power rather than increasing charging beyond 35A. Oversizing does not permit exceeding the PV voltage or short-circuit current limits.

Can I connect lights or an inverter directly to the controller?

This model has no dedicated load-output terminals. Connect loads to the battery system through appropriately sized wiring, protection and distribution.

Can it be installed outside?

Install it in a dry, ventilated location protected from rain and spray. Its IP ratings do not make the complete controller waterproof.

Can you special-order other Victron products?

Yes. Contact us with the model or part number for Victron products not listed on our website. We will confirm availability, pricing and estimated lead time.

What warranty is included?

The controller includes Victron Energy's 5-year limited warranty. Sapphire Energy can assist with troubleshooting and warranty support.
