Dependable 12V power from your 24V battery system. The Victron Orion 24/12-25A converts an 18–35V DC supply into a regulated, adjustable 10–15V output for lighting, pumps, radios, controls and other 12V equipment.

Reliable 12V Power From a 24V System


A 24V battery system offers useful advantages for larger inverters and other high-power equipment, but many everyday accessories still require 12V. The Victron Orion 24/12-25A bridges that gap by providing a regulated 12V supply directly from your 24V system.

Use it to supply a 12V distribution panel or individual loads such as lighting, fans, water pumps, radios, security equipment and control circuits. Its 25A continuous rating provides substantial capacity without requiring a separate 12V battery bank.

This model is a non-isolated DC-DC converter. The input and output negative connections are electrically common, making it suitable for installations where both voltage circuits share the same DC negative or chassis ground.

Keep Your Battery Bank Balanced

If your 24V bank consists of two 12V batteries connected in series, power your 12V accessories through a converter rather than connecting them across only one battery. Drawing from one battery creates an imbalance that can reduce usable capacity and complicate charging.

The Orion draws from the complete 24V bank and provides a regulated 12V output for your accessories.

Adjustable Output Voltage


The output is factory-set to approximately 13.2V and can be adjusted between 10V and 15V using the built-in potentiometer.

This flexibility lets you match the supply to your equipment requirements. It can also help compensate for moderate voltage drop in longer cable runs, provided the resulting voltage remains safe for every connected device.

Use a suitable voltmeter when adjusting the output, and verify the voltage at the connected equipment before putting the system into service.

Remote On/Off & Parallel Operation


The remote on/off connection lets you control the converter using a low-current switch or compatible control circuit. This is useful when you want the 12V supply to follow a master switch, ignition-controlled circuit or other system control.

For installations requiring more than 25A continuously, compatible Orion converters can be connected in parallel. Output voltages must be matched, and the wiring, distribution and protection must be designed for the combined capacity.

Converter or Battery Charger?

The ORI241225020 is primarily a regulated DC-DC power converter. It does not include Bluetooth, automatic alternator detection or a programmable multi-stage charging profile.

Its adjustable output can support suitable buffer-charging applications, but a dedicated Victron DC-DC battery charger is generally the better choice when your main goal is charging another battery.

Installation Notes


  • Install in a protected location: The IP20 enclosure must remain dry and protected from water, spray and condensation.
  • Allow ventilation: Leave room for air circulation around the converter and avoid mounting it beside significant heat sources.
  • Use properly sized conductors: Account for current, cable length, voltage drop and installation conditions on both sides of the converter.
  • Protect the supply wiring: Install suitable overcurrent protection close to the 24V power source.
  • Protect individual output circuits: A 12V distribution panel should provide appropriately sized protection for each connected branch circuit.
  • Confirm grounding compatibility: This non-isolated model requires a system compatible with a common input/output negative.

Frequently Asked Questions


Can I use this to run my 12V accessories from a 24V battery bank?

Yes. That is its primary purpose. It provides a regulated 12V supply from a nominal 24V source and delivers up to 25A continuously. Check the permitted voltage range and combined current requirements of your accessories, including startup loads from pumps or motors.

Why not connect my 12V equipment to one battery in a 24V series bank?

Drawing power from only one battery causes the two batteries to discharge unevenly. This can reduce usable capacity and create charging problems. The Orion draws from the complete 24V bank and supplies your accessories at the correct voltage without creating that unequal load.

Is this a DC-DC battery charger?

This model is primarily a DC-DC converter, not a programmable multi-stage charger. Its adjustable output can support suitable buffer-charging applications, but it does not include a configurable charging profile or automatic alternator detection.

For routinely charging another battery, choose a dedicated DC-DC charger suited to the battery chemistry and installation.

What does non-isolated mean, and will it work in my system?

Non-isolated means the input and output negative connections are electrically common. This works well in many RVs, vehicles and off-grid installations where both circuits share a negative bus or chassis ground.

If the two circuits must remain electrically separated, select a galvanically isolated converter instead.

Can I adjust the output voltage?

Yes. The built-in potentiometer allows adjustment from 10–15V. The factory setting is approximately 13.2V. Use a voltmeter when adjusting it and confirm that the final setting is suitable for every connected device.

Is 25A enough for my equipment?

Add together the current drawn by all equipment that may operate simultaneously, then allow for startup current and some spare capacity. The 25A rating is continuous; the listed 35A maximum should not be used as your normal design capacity.

If your loads are close to or above 25A, contact us about a larger converter or an appropriately designed parallel installation.

Can I add another converter later?

Yes. Compatible Orion converters can be connected in parallel for additional output. Their output voltages must be matched, and the cabling, connections and circuit protection must be suitable for the combined capacity. Follow Victron’s installation instructions when designing the arrangement.

Does this model have Bluetooth or connect to a Cerbo GX?

No. The ORI241225020 does not include Bluetooth, VE.Direct or direct GX monitoring. Output voltage is adjusted on the unit, and its remote on/off connection provides basic external control.

If you wish to have accurate energy monitoring, you can install a shunt sensor to give you voltage and current feedback.

Can it be installed outside or in an engine bay?

It requires a dry, protected and ventilated mounting location. Its IP20 enclosure is not water-resistant, so it should not be exposed to rain, spray or condensation.

An engine-bay installation must remain within the converter’s temperature limits and protect it from moisture, debris and excessive heat.

Can this convert 12V to 24V or work from a 48V battery?

No. This model is specifically a nominal 24V-to-12V step-down converter with an 18–35V input operating range. For 12V-to-24V conversion or a 48V battery system, choose a converter designed for those voltages.
