A compact, ready-to-install DC solar MCB circuit breaker kit designed to serve as a clean PV disconnect / isolation point in DC power systems. This 2-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is rated 32A up to 500V DC and comes pre-installed in a UV-resistant, IP65-rated enclosure with cable sealing glands included.

Suitable for use on DC circuits where the applicable voltage and interrupt ratings are respected. Commonly used between solar arrays and charge controllers, or anywhere a dedicated DC isolation point is required.

Why Use a PV Disconnect Breaker?

A dedicated PV disconnect makes solar systems easier to service and safer to work on. With a proper disconnect, you can quickly isolate the array for maintenance, troubleshooting, or a fast system reset—without disturbing your wiring.

In many solar setups, PV should be disconnected before the battery (most charge controller manuals specify this sequence). A disconnect breaker gives you a simple ON/OFF isolation point so you don’t have to loosen terminals or pull conductors to shut down the array. That’s not only faster—it also reduces the chance of arcing and reduces the risk of shock.

DC solar circuits can reach dangerous voltages, and will remain energized whenever panels are exposed to light. 

Before opening the enclosure or working on wiring, switch off the breaker, ensure the source is safely isolated (open MC4 connectors), verify the absence of voltage, and follow appropriate electrical safety practices.

The use of insulated tools and proper PPE is strongly encouraged!

What is this kit used for?

This kit is a ready-to-install PV disconnect / isolation point for DC systems. It’s most commonly installed between the solar array and the charge controller so you can shut PV off quickly for maintenance, troubleshooting, or safe wiring changes.

Do I disconnect PV or battery first for maintenance?

Most solar charge controller manuals specify disconnecting the PV input before the battery (This simply simulates night time). A PV disconnect breaker makes that step fast and consistent, and helps avoid “live wiring” moments during service or resets.

Can I use this for 2 arrays?

Technically yes, however not recommended.

This is a 2-pole breaker, so you can switch +/− for a single array (best practice), or use the individual poles for the positive wire from two different arrays (recommended to limit Voc to 150V).

Using +/− with a single array is typically recommended for a true PV disconnect. We recommend mounting a second disconnect kit for a second array.

Is the breaker replaceable?

Yes. The breaker is a standard 18 mm × 2 DIN format (36 mm wide), mounted on an internal metal DIN rail. If you ever need to change ratings or replace the breaker, it can be swapped out easily.

Replacements can include 2 single pole breakers, or a double pole breaker.

What wire size fits the glands?

The included glands are sized to fit 12-10 AWG PV wire cleanly.  Simply insert, and twist until the rubber gland seal tightens around the wire jacket.

Is this suitable outdoors?

The enclosure is IP65 and UV-resistant, but for best long-term reliability we still recommend installing it in a more sheltered location, out of rain and direct sunlight.
